Our friends at Microsoft have just recently published a whitepaper showing you how can connect PowerPivot to SAP BW systems to extract and analyze data. Of course, the Microsoft folks cover all the standard ways to connect to SAP BW including: using an Excel Pivot Table to connect directly to SAP BW, connecting to SAP BW via Reporting Services and then pulling the data into PowerPivot, and using SAP OpenHub. You can read more here: http://sqlcat.com/whitepapers/archive/2011/01/26/using-sql-server-powerpivot-for-excel-to-analyze-sap-data.aspx.
If you want to connect from Excel Pivot Tables directly to SAP BW, you can read our whitepaper here: http://www.simba.com/docs/Connecting-to-SAP-BW-with-Microsoft-Excel-2007-PivotTables-and-ODBO.pdf
Really like the blog, appreciate the share!
